Now the Chennaites residing in in the slum areas of Royapuram, Tiruvotriyur, Tondiarpet in North Chennai and Kannagi Nagar, Thanthai Periyar Nagar and Semmencherry in South Chennai can assess ATM mobile vans at their door step at specified times.
Reserve Bank of India governor Dr Raghuram G Rajan launched Indian Bank’s two mobile branches/vans with ATM facility, for providing banking services to urban populace.
The mobile van is the first-of- its-kind launched by the bank in the urban location and will be stationed in the identified locations/slum areas in fixed timings and will provide all banking facilities similar to a bank branch, such as account opening, deposits, withdrawals, remittances, which will save the time and cost of transportation for the slum dwellers.
The mobile branch is also provided with an ATM, which could be accessed by the customers of all banks.
