A new 33 kV substation has been installed in Greams Road in Chennai.
There are 27 Lakhs power connections in Chennai and its suburbs.
The usage of air-conditioners has increased more in Chennai as compared to other cities. This leads to overload tripping & power cuts.
The area of central Chennai gets power distributed through a 33 kV substation to feed Thousand Lights, Royappettah, and Nungambakkam.
The additional load, which could not be borne by the single substation, created problems in the functioning of the substation. Hence, a new 33 kV substation has been installed in Greams Road.
This started operating from yesterday, 24th July.
