Is your computer or mobile phone troubling you with virus? Here is an alert from Kaspersky Lab about the newly emerging virus threat, “onion”. This virus came into life before few months and is said to infect mobile phones used to visit porn sites. This virus encrypts all your data and would demand ransom for decryption. The encryption is done on any kind of file stored in the device. This may be a personal photo, archives, documents, diagrams, etc.

This gives a 72 hour deadline for the payment failing which the data will be permanently lost. This makes use of an anonymous network for receiving payments and transferring the secret data. Kaspersky identified the latest samples of the malware to be supported by a Russian language interface. With this, it is suspected that the malware writers do speak Russian.
