By 2025 India will become the worlds fifth largest consumer market: R Chandrasekaran, Cognizant.

He advised the students:’ Be driven by a passion for excellence`

R. Chandrasekaran (second right), President and Managing Director, Global Delivery, Cognizant, Chennai  presented the Best Outgoing Student award to V. Adithiya of Mechanical Engineering at the graduation day of PSG College of Technology in Coimbatore on Friday.

He said that at present rate of growth, if pattern continues, income levels in India will treble by 2025. India will become the world`s fifth largest consumer market. Communications, transportation, personal technology, health care products, education, and recreation will create sizable markets, said R. Chandrasekaran while delivering the graduation day address

“This growth will spread beyond the tier-1 cities. Clearly, there could not be a better time for you to graduate, given the opportunities that India commands in the rapidly changing business and economic landscape in the world.

The world is already looking to India for crucial business and technological help in rewriting the rules of business, services, and innovation,” Mr. Chandrasekaran said.

He predicted that the growth potential would be spread across areas such as manufacturing, information technology, telecommunications, retail, infrastructure, energy, and utilities.

“The professional world is bound to throw up exciting opportunities and challenges that will put to test your dreams, and your resolve and ability to work towards those dreams. Maintain your highest passion for excellence. Only this passion will drive you towards success. The moment you stop displaying the all-consuming passion and look only for the proverbial fortune at the end of the rainbow, it will show on the results of your work,” Mr. Chandrasekaran said.He urged the young graduates to make success a shifting goal post. He also exhorted them to recognise and appreciate the efforts of team effort when they begin their career. He impressed the need for giving back to society.

“Your success should always remind you of all the players from your social circle who contributed directly or indirectly to your success,” he said.
