The Velachery MRTS station receives mass of commuters daily, and they are facing trouble to park their vehicles since there is a parking area on only one edges of the station.
Travelers from southern borders including Medavakkam and Sithalakpakkam find it hard to go all the way to the parking area sited on the northern side of the railway station. This situation will go even worse, with the Chief Minister revealing that the government would build up a business complex on top of the railway station.
Commuters approaching from the southern side have to cope with the traffic on Velachery Main Road and the taper Station Road to arrive at the parking lot. And hence a lot of time and fuel is worned out, and commuters often fail to take trains, especially during peak hours.
Despite having a wide open area on the southern region of the railway station and a courteous road network, commuters are dejected that the southern railway station has not shaped a suitable parking lot, which can escort the daily mass of people.
Our department was sternly in the view of breaching a parking yard on the southern side of the railway station, said a senior official of southern railway station. They are in discussion with the railway contractor who controls the parking zone. If the parking contractor fails to take up the parking contract, then soon the tenders would be drifted by next month, officials said.
