TANGEDCO has appealed to the public not to stand outside in open area and not to operate electrical gadgets when there is thunder & lightning.
TANGEDCO has started taking preventive action to avoid electrical accidents with the onset of North-east monsoon.
It has appealed to the public to follow some guidelines:
· Do not stand out in open air when there is thunder & lightning.
· Try to take immediate shelter in some concrete structure or buses/cars/vans with metallic covers.
· Do not stand under a tree or inside a hut.
· Avoid areas with stagnant rain water.
· Do not operate gadgets like TV, Mixie, Grinder, Computer, or telephone.
· Keep the switches of all gadgets ‘off’ while not in operation.
· Do not go near or urinate in the fence area of the electrical substations.
· Contact EB officials before trying to cut off any tree or branches where wires/cables pass.
· If you find overhead electric lines cut & fallen, do not go near; immediately inform the EB office.
· Do not touch electric pillars or poles. Avoid tying cattle here.
· If some electrical wiring is damaged in concealed wiring, avoid hammering nails in those areas.
· If there is any fire due to electrical fault or problem, immediately switch ‘off’ the mains.
· Do not try to extinguish this fire with water. Use dry sand, dry blanket or fire extinguisher with carbon-di-oxide.
