Usman Road to have first Amma theatre

The Chennai Corporation announced plans to boost the entertainment quotient in the city with ‘Amma Cinema Theatres’. The Amma Cinema Theatres, which were a highlight of the budget, have been planned to provide affordable entertainment for the poorer and middle-class segments of the city. The theatres will be built in unused Corporation lands and buildings and will screen new Kollywood releases, bringing multiplex entertainment to the general public.
Now Chennai Corporation will begin the construction of 12-storey building commercial complexes which will also house Amma Theatres and auditoriums on Usman Road on Corporation land near the Shiva Vishnu Temple.
The lower floors will have adequate parking space and shops. The Amma Theatre and auditorium will be housed in the higher floors. Multiple screens for the Amma Theatres will be designed in such high-rise buildings. The commercial complex in T. Nagar will house distinctive trades.
