Dearness Allowance (DA) for all central government employees and pensioners is increased from 100% to 107%.
This will be effective from 1st July.
The government press release yesterday informs that this decision was taken during the recent meeting of cabinet ministers.
This will benefit 30 lakhs central government employees & 50 Lakhs pensioners.
Earlier, the erstwhile UPA government increased the DA from 90% to 100% on 28th February, 2014. This was made effective retrospectively from 1st January. Now, the current rise is from 100% to 107%.
The central government is set to incur an additional expense of Rs. 7691 Crores for its employees & Rs. 5217 Crores for its pensioners during the financial year for the period from July 2014 till February, 2015.
