Look for an alternative parking slot

Those who visit Madras High Court in the coming weeks may have to seek for new parking areas, as you will not be allowed to park your vehicles within the court campus from Monday. The zone turns a ‘no-parking’ for its visitors which include petitioners too.

Note even advocates are permitted to get their vehicle parked safe within the premise of the Madras High Court after 8 pm, say sources from Madras Bar Association (MBA). However, advocates and government vehicles can be parked inside the campus during day time.

Sources say this new parking system will be implemented as a trial for about two months. Vehicles that are parked within the campus after 8 pm will only be considered as abandoned vehicles and these will be removed. This arrangement is expected to bring good level of security to the court.

As of now, five areas are allotted for advocates and court staff to park their vehicles in the campus. Over three thousand vehicles are making their visit to and fro the campus every day.

This ‘no-parking’ decision was made during the recently held security committee meeting.
