When things happen as per plans by the Chennai city corporation, commuters at the city’s two major commercial districts may soon be able to use skywalks.
Private consultants for the Tamil Nadu Urban Infrastructure Financial Services Limited (TNUIFSL) will soon get a project report ready for the linking of skywalks at west Mambalam suburban railway station and T Nagar deport, and one more to connect Fort station and Parry’s corner.
Reviews about the proposed grade separator to connect Anna Salai and Mahalingapuram by integration of Usman Road flyovers were held during the meeting on Wednesday. The feasibility of these projects are being evaluated and analyzed, said corporation officials. Various options and designs are received and the finalization will be done upon approval of the report, said an official.
Two proposals are received to draw the skywalk link between west Mambalam railway station and T Nagar deport: L- shaped skywalk that allows commuters move over Eashwaran Koil road towards Madley subway, and a 90-degree right turn towards the Mambalam railway station. The second proposal is to build elevated skywalk cross over on Ranganathan Street and Usman road.
