Central Government has decided to implement 5 important schemes through Aadhar Card.
Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, conducted a meeting on the topic of using Aadhar Cards for implementation of welfare schemes. It was discussed whether every citizen should be issued Aadhar card through which some important schemes will be implemented.
Reliable sources inform that the prime minister strongly believes that the system of remitting subsidy amounts in the banks using Aadhar Cards can be successfully completed for best results.
Accordingly, it has been decided to continue with the previous government’s decision to use Aadhar cards for new schemes to be introduced.
Central government is set to approach the Supreme Court to cancel the present blocking of Aadhar Cards usage. Once this blockade is withdrawn, schemes such as cooking gas subsidy, widows/destitute relief funds, academic scholarships, National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, and the benefits of PDS (Public Distribution System) can all be remitted in the banks through the usage of Aadhar cards.
Planning Commission has estimated that 25% to 60% of subsidies are being remitted in the banks through Aadhar Cards in different states. A target has been set to increase this to 80%.
Following the inauguration of the Prime Minister Jandhan Scheme, the central government has speeded up its activities on the implementation of Aadhar cards & associated schemes.
With the direct transaction of subsidies, the government expects there will be a 20% reduction in the subsidy spent on Cooking Gas.
It is estimated that the total subsidy for the current financial year would be Rs. 63,427 Crores.
