Engineers turn criminals, alarming trend in TN

Among the total population of Engineers in Tamil Nadu every year, it is found that nearly 52 per cent of them fail in getting proper employment or they get into poor paying jobs that are irrelevant to their studies.
There is an emerging alarming trend that most of the Engineers are turning to crime! They get into run-ins while they study, owing to gang issues in college and because of rivalry among themselves. In most cases, this ends with dismissal from the educating institution, while few others get into crime, say police officials.
According to police officials and college professors, students should be severely punished for their petty crime right at their college level. This is believed to reduce more serious offenses in future, they add. Speaking to a principal of a private engineering college here in Chennai, he says it is the responsibility of the college to take vigilant action against such students.
