The basic salary for the employees in the food industry including hotels & tea shops has been raised.
A government order has been issued to raise the minimum salaries of these employees as per the recommendations of the wage fixing committee.
This has been implemented from 13th August, 2014.
As per this government order:
The chief cook, supervisor, cashier, accountant, clerk, typist, etc belonging to Grade-1 group of employees have been given a rise in Basic Pay Rs. 1834/-. Including the dearness allowance, the rise will be Rs. 8943/-.
Assistant cooks, baker, foreman, etc belonging to Grade-2 group of employees will get an increase of basic pay by Rs. 1823/0 for a total of Rs. 8886/- including D A.
Grade-3 group of employees such as those who prepare idlis, dosa, tea, coffee, or paratahas, head waiters, watchmen, etc will get a basic pay rise by Rs. 1810/- for a total of Rs. 8820/- including D A.
Suppliers, those who cut vegetables, assistants to cooks, etc who belong to Grade-4 group of employees will get a basic pay rise by Rs. 1799/- for a total of Rs. 8764/- including D A.
Room-boys, Office-boys, Lift operators, gardeners, etc who belong to Grade-5 group of employees will gets basic pay rise by Rs. 1790/- for a total of Rs. 8716/- .
The government has ordered the entire hotel industry to implement these wage revisions. Failure to implement result in legal action being taken as per the government minimum wages Act.
