Not being able to compete with the discounted prices offered by e-commerce giants Amazon, Flipkart and Snapdeal, mobile phone retailers in the city have threatened to boycott the much awaited Apple’s product, iPhone 6 and 6 plus which is set for pre-Diwali launch.
Sources say over 1.5 lakh retailers have returned their iPhone 5S models without being able to battle with e-commerce sites. Mobile retailers lose their business and reputation due to these online sellers which has in turn created a huge roar and heartburn, said Subash Chandra, the MD of retail store, Sangeetha Mobiles.
He adds offline sellers are badly affected.
Speaking to one of the retailer, he says he wouldn’t sell iPhone products if things keep heading the same way.
It is said Apple India has given authority to sell iPhones only through Infibeam and not to other market places like Amazon, Flipkart or Snapdeal. Flipkart is said to have the authority to sell only iPads and iPods.
