In order to create awareness on cleanliness & good health among students in all government & government-aided schools, the School Education Centre has ordered that several programmes about this should be conducted during the period from 9th October till 15th August, 2015.
The directive sent on last Tuesday by School Education Centre to all primary education officers in all districts:
· The school building and the playgrounds areas should be kept clean. The unwanted shrubs and other plant growths in the school complex should be removed and cleaned. The water tanks should be cleaned and maintained regularly.
· The kitchen, principal’s cabin, library, and the laboratories should be cleaned by removing all cobwebs. Furniture items such as tables, chairs, and shelves should be repaired and kept in good condition.
· Items beyond repair should be listed in the register and then removed.
· These activities will be undertaken utilising the maintenance fund given by the School Education Centre.
· Awareness about the importance and significance of cleanliness & good health should be created through essay contests, painting competitions, etc. An awareness congregation should be conducted.
· The teachers should advise the students on the importance of brushing teeth, taking regular daily baths, cutting nails, wearing clean clothes, washing hands before eating sessions, keeping healthy food habits, using the garbage or wastepaper baskets, etc and help them develop good habits. Students should be administered the oath on cleanliness.
The district primary education officers should send circulars to all headmasters/principals in their region. The evidence of having conducted all the awareness programmes & the cleaning activities should be obtained from the schools.
