Karthigai Deepam foundation work begins

Preparatory work to Tiruvannamalai Karthigai Deepam festival began with the ‘Pandal Kaal Muhurtam’ ceremony on Monday.
The ten-day Karthigai Deepam Festival will begin with the hoisting of the flag on November 23 and culminate with the lighting of the Karthiga Maha Deepam at holy Tiruvannamalai hill on December 9.
The preparatory works for the festival traditionally began with the erection of the Pandal Kaal at Sri Arunachaleswarar Temple on Monday.
The Pandal Kaal (pole for ceremonial shed) was erected in front of the temple with religious fervor.
