Commuters panicked by frequent malfunctioning of traffic signals

Traffic signals functioning at the Royapettah high road and Radhakrishnan Salai fell asleep and left all commuters annoyed. The road always has heavy bunch of vehicles passing through it all through the day. Travelling through the way seemed to be a nightmare until it was resolved by technicians. But this is not the only case. Considering the past two weeks, there were over 20 incidents of traffic signal malfunctioning, say sources.

Chennai commuters are very well used to frequent failure of traffic signals, but this is emerging as a nuisance in the recent days. This started happening more often especially on roads carrying heavy traffic, say commuters.

Speaking to one of the commuter, he says many signals get turned off regularly. Few of them like the signal in Gandhi Irwin Bridge, Egmore works about once in five minutes. This is a major road with lot of traffic all the time. This is troublesome during peak hours, say another commuter. While a complete failure of functioning of a traffic signal is too panicking, the cases of partly working signals are worse.

One of the commuters even posted on the official facebook page of Chennai City Traffic Police stating about the malfunctioning of the Orange light in Erikarai signal.

Hoping to have betterment soon!
