Anna University has decided to bring about changes in the question papers set for B. E. & B. Tech. Students.
In the current B. E./B. Tech. question paper format, 100% of the questions are ‘subjective’.
This leads to the situation where the students simply cram or mug up the lessons without understanding them and write the examinations.
A statistical data informs that when these students complete their studies and come out of their colleges, only 25% stand the chance of job opportunity.
Considering this aspect, Anna University is exploring the idea of changing the question paper formats to facilitate the students’ improved understanding about the subjects.
This was discussed in detail during a recent meeting. A majority advised for the change in the format of the question papers.
Following this, the vice chancellor, the administrators and the faculty are to form a committee to implement this.
A senior official of Anna University informed that the current question paper format contains 100% question subjective with long answers. As a change, it is proposed to introduce 60% subjective questions and 40% multiple choice questions. This will prevent the students’ trend to mug up the lessons and write. They will be compelled to study the lessons in more detail and understand them. This will certainly expand their learning & knowledge.
