Aadhar Card Camps comes to an end in T.N

Camps held for Aadhar Card in Tamil Nadu gets over by December this year. Following this, new Aadhar Card applicants can approach permanent centres for applying.

The camp which started in November 2011 by the Survey Department of centre saw applications from 73.7% population of the state. This counts to 4,96,90,496 on the whole. Out of this, about 69.49% people have received their Aadhar Cards.

Out of the entire state, Chennai stands with the least number of applicants contributing just 62.33%. The maximum number is contributed by Perambalur with 89.23%. 5 more districts have produced applications above 80%.

Application of Aadhar Card took place in two phase the first of which got completed in all districts. The second phase is over in five districts, and is on the go in 15 more districts including Thiruvallur, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Vellore and Thiruvannamalai. The work is yet to get commenced at 12 more districts.

Speaking to officials at the survey department, they say on completion of second phase of Aadhar Card distribution, government will set up permanent centres in T.N. People are free to apply for Aadhar Card here at any time they want, they add.
