6,519 new voters in Chennai District

Corporation Commissioner at the Ripon Building released the draft electoral rolls for Chennai district. There were 6,519 additions. Now as per the draft electoral,the total number of eligible voters at 37, 76,466. The names of 5,433 have been removed from the list that was produced in April. Corporation officials said that the list would be put up for public display at zonal offices where those who wish to add their names, or make corrections to their existing profiles could come forward. So far, the number of male voters is 18, 84,228, female voters is 18, 91,519 and the third Gender, 719 — with a total number of 37, 76,466. People whose names have been left out of the list can apply to be included. 
 
Officials said that the window will be open till November 10. Also, special camps will be conducted at poll booths on October 26 and November 2, where the public can avail the facility besides making use of the website http://www.elections.tn.gov.in/
 
The number of polling stations has been increased from 3,254. Currently, the number of polling stations stands at 3,624 while the number of sub poll booths is 83. In this, Perambur constituency has the highest number at 262, while Egmore, with 170, has the lowest.
