Closure of Nokia’s Sriperumbudur unit stands as burden for many

Closure of the Sriperumbudur unit of renowned mobile phone company Nokia has not just left 35,000 workers affected but many hundreds of people who have been benefited from mobile phone maker.

For instance: people who rent their house for workers in Sriperumbudur Nokia factory are left with no rent this month, as the tenants had to leave the place following loss of their job. They also find it hard to identify new tenants soon.

People in and around who rent out houses say the closure is unexpected. Many Nokia workers were residing in places in and around the unit together with their family members.

It’s not just that. People at the outskirts of Chennai including Kanchipuram and Tiruvallur are also affected due to sudden vacancy of the spaces they rented so far.

Furthermore, the increasing number of industrial units assured the public of improvement in infrastructure and other basic amenities. This however has halted in a question mark.
