Mandatory photo id and age proof to visit Iyyapan temple

The Travancore Dhevasam board commissioner P. Venugopal, in a recent statement made it mandatory for all kids aging below 10 and elders above the age 50 to carry a photo affixed identity card when they visit Sabarimalai.
 
He said the temple gets opened on 16th November evening. Owing to the the Magara Vilakku poojai rituals, all medical, drinking water, and food facilities are done on behalf of the board.
 
As a heavy crowd is expected for this eve, kids and elders have the possibility to go missing. Hence, the board has mandated the use of a photo affixed identity card that also has their age details.
 
Females aging between 10 and 50 are generally not allowed in the temple. Women aging above 50 are ought to bring their age proofs, the statement added. Furthermore, plastic items should never be used or brought within the temple.
