In the special mela organised by the Regional Passport Office for quick clearance & issue of passports, 1700 individuals were issued passports in a single day.
The number of applications to be received on-line has also been increased.
The public go abroad for various reasons such as jobs, education, etc. The number of applications for passports received has been increasing every day.
A special mela was organised to clear the passports. 1700 passports were issued on a single day.
Regional Passport officer, Mr. C. Senthil Pandian informed:
During the special mela conducted on 1st November, 1700 passports were issued on a single day.
The number of applications received from Tatkal has been increased from 110 per day to 180 per day. This has been effective from 3rd November.
It has been planned to conduct similar mela`s in other districts as well.
In the 1st phase, mela`s will be conducted at Pondicherry on 8th & 9th November and at Cuaddalore on 15th & 16th November. It is expected that more than 200 applications for passport will be received at Pondicherry.
