‘Battle of Buffet’ a platform for the donor to contribute will be organized on 30th September at Chennai Trade Center. This is an initiative by leading hotel as a part of ‘Joy of Giving Week,` which will offer best of their culinary spread, a fundraising event for the NGOs.The donor can contribute any social organization of their choice. The donors will also get, as a thank-you gesture; they would get to taste the signature dishes prepared by the participating hotels. The event, presented by Naihaa, and coordinated by Oriental Cuisines and Give India, would also have a light music programme by singer Srinivas.
Addressing media persons here on Friday, Oriental Cuisines Managing Director M.Mahadevan said several top-notch hotels are coming together to raise funds for over 80 NGOs. “Last year, we raised Rs.90 lakh. We expect Rs.1.5 crore this year,” he said. Courtyard by Marriott General Manager Karan Berry said their proceeds would go to Marriott Home for underprivileged children. Urging more donors to take part, singer Srinivas said it was important for people to support disadvantaged section. Co-founder of TANKER Foundation Latha Kumaraswami said they got Rs.6 lakh last year from the event and expressed optimism that it would double this year.
“This event has given NGOs a lot of visibility among donors. It also networks various donors with newer and deserving NGOs.” The Park Hotel General Manager Lemuel Herbert, Naihaa Manager Aneesh K.Deepak and Savera Hotels Executive Director Nina Reddy spoke.
