ATMs are equally helpful and a place of insecurity as well. Burglars target ATM centers to grab lump sum amounts from the users as it serves to be an ideal spot to show their trick.
As a step to eradicate this issue and wanting to make sure about proper functioning of ATM cameras, Chennai police officials have advised banks to install vandal-proof cameras. This will help the ATM centers to stay protected even if burglars try vandalizing the cameras.
During a recent meeting session with 45 representatives from various banks at City Commissionrate at Vepery on Friday, police officials pointed that CCTV cameras were installed in 85 per cent of their bank ATMS. They insisted the banking official to make sure of proper functioning of the cameras affixed. Furthermore, it was requested to elevate the security levels in these ATMs, especially during night hours, and to ensure that there is proper illumination in these centers at night.
Senior police officials instructed to conduct security audit and take steps to install CCTV cameras not just inside the banks, but also in the parking lots.
Bank representatives were instructed to keep the police informed about any suspicious movement outside ATMs.
