Healthy Food Recipes - Rava kesari

INGREDIENTS
  • White rava /Bombay rava - 1/2 cup
  • Sugar - 1/2 cup (use 1 cup for more sweetness)
  • Melted ghee – 1/4 cup
  • Water – 1 1/2 cups
  • Kesari colour/Orange food colour - 1 pinch
  • Cardamom powder – 1 pinch
  • Cashews – 10 nos
  • Dry Grapes – 10 nos
  • Salt – 1 pinch
METHOD

1. Heat a non-stick kadai and add 1/2 tbsp of melted ghee. Roast the cashews and dry grapes till golden and set aside.



 
2. In the remaining ghee, add the rava. As soon as u add the rava, it should sizzle. So ghee should be heated properly. Roast the rava in medium flame for 2-3 minutes till it gives a nice roasted smell. Remove it in a plate. 



 
3. In the same hot kadai, add 1 1/2 cups of water and a pinch of salt to it. 



 
4. When the water starts to boil, simmer the flame completely and add the roasted rava.
5. Stir the mix simultaneously to avoid the formation of lumps. 
6. Then cover the kadai with a lid and let it cook for 3 minutes. Keep the flame medium. 



 
7. Now add sugar and kesari colour and mix well.



 
8. Allow the stove to be in the low flame and stir completely.
9. Add a tsp of ghee to the rava mixture; it will prevents rava sticking to the pan. 



 
10. Now add a pinch of cardamom powder.
11. Finally add the roasted cashews and dry grapes to it.



 
12. Rava kesari is ready, serve it either hot or warm.
