A trough over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring rainfall to south Tamil Nadu from today.
Chennai has received 60 cm of rainfall, 2 cm more than the average, since October 1. However, the city needs 25 more cm to reach its annual average of 140 cm. The storage in the reservoirs is yet to reach the desired level due to insufficient rains. Pointing out that there was one more month to go before the monsoon officially winds up over the State, officials said such long dry spells were common during this period. Heavy spells of rains might compensate for the dry days.
