Shocking but true - even one person in 15 lakh families in TN is not literate

According to the census taken in 2011, in about 15 lakh families in Tamil Nadu, even a single person is not literate. When the statistics for literacy rate in India was published, an increase by 10% was noticed. The literacy rate of parents in 2001 was 64.84%, whereas it has increased to 74% in 2011 out of which cities cover 84% and villages 68%.
 
Similarly, in about 24 crores and 88 lakhs joint families, only 4 members in a family above 7 years are literate, and in 2 crores and 42 lakhs families, only one is literate in a family.
 
But the statistics for Tamil Nadu reveals that in about 15.1 lakh families in TN, there is not even a single literate, which on an aggregate covers 1 crore and 84 lakhs people in Tamil Nadu. This statistic report is obtained from analyzing villages, whereas, in urban regions of Tamil Nadu about 4 lakhs and 9 thousand people are illiterate.
 
While talking about Chennai, this rate is 2.7%, and in Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur, it is 5.33%. The literacy rate in Kanyakumari is 91.75% and only 14,831 people are illiterate. In Erode, the illiteracy rate is very high, which is 14.97% and next is Namakal with 13.73% and Salem with 12.64%
