Power substation at Koyambedu ready for the Chennai Metro Rail Project!

Chennai Metro Rail Project authorities informed that the substation to provide power for the project is completed and read to operate.

This substation will provide the power for the section between Koyambedu & Parangmalai.

The substation provides power for the metro workshop as well. The substation is set to provide regulated and uninterrupted power to the metro system.

The metro trains will be provided with 25 Watts power and the railways stations will be provided with 33 kV.

Chennai Metro Project consists of 2 corridors covering a total distance of 45 km.

24 km track is underground.

On the section between Washermanpet & Thirisoolam (Airport), the part between Washermanpet & Saidapet will be underground. The part between Saidapet & Airport will be on elevated track.

Rs. 20,000 Crores has been allotted for Chennai Metro Rail Project and the work is in smooth progress.

It is expected that the section between Koyambedu & Parangimalai will start operating public service in March, 2015.
