The central government is set to form ‘Consumer Welfare Centres’ in all major cities in the country in the immediate future.
When the customer who buys consumer goods from various manufacturers and other sources encounters some problems, he/she can contact this consumer welfare centre, register the grievances and find solutions,
Consumer welfare centres are to be set up in Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Guwahati, Shillong, Raipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ahmadabad, Pune, and Bhuvaneswar.
The ministry of consumer welfare affairs has informed that applications have also been received from Voluntary Consumer Associations in this regard.
Consumers having grievances/problems regarding their purchases can register in these consumer welfare centres. They will take this issue to the concerned companies. A toll-free telephone will be available.
