It is generally established that using excessive amounts of cooking oil is likely to increase the cholesterol level in the blood.
Exploiting this aspect, certain cooking oil manufacturers advertise that their product contain lesser amount of fat.
Meanwhile, Mr. Raghunathan Rao, Deputy Director of National Nutrition Company and an eminent expert on nutrition, declares that there is absolutely no fat content in cooking oil!
Mr. Raghunathan Rao was participating in the seminar on ‘How to lead a healthy life?’ conducted by the company, Smart Value Products, in Kolkata.
He observed that some cooking oil manufacturers that their product contains less cholesterol whereas certain other companies claim that their product contains no cholesterol. In fact, there is no fat content in cooking oil.
So, the public need not be apprehensive about using cooking oil. This is all about marketing technique & nothing more. There are some people who have completely stopped using cooking oil!
The reality is that when certain vegetable are cooked in oil, the oil helps in the process of the nutrients to be released from the vegetables and get mixed in the dish. Public will have to become more aware about this.
The lack about this awareness can only lead to deficiency in nutrition.
