B.Ramakrishnan, president of Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation (ICAF), announced here in Thursday that Chennai International Film Festival would be held between December 15 and 23. Actors Lizzy Priyadarshan, Radhika Sarath Kumar, Mohan, S.Ve.Sheker, Suhasini Mani Rathnam, SIFCC secretary Ravi Kottarakara, ICAF president B.Ramakrishnan, secretary E.Thangaraj and South Indian Film Artistes` Association president Sarath Kumar were present in the press meet where in announcement of the 8th CIFF in Chennai was made on Thursday. Indo Cine Appreciation Foundation which is organising the event will be supported by y the Film Federation of India (FFI) and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) in orgainsing the festival this year.
Tamil Nadu Film Producers` Council president Ramanarayanan, actors Revathi, Mohan, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Rohini and Khusbhoo, directors P.Vasu and Gautam Vasudev Menon, FFI president L.Suresh, editor B.Lenin, cinematographer B.Kannan, South Indian Film Artistes` Association president Sarath Kumar, SIFCC president C.Kalyan and secretary Ravi Kottarakara, and producer Katragadda Prasad together make the advisory committee. State Government is sponsoring the event with at cost of Rs.25 lakh.
Nearly 20 Tamil feature films will be participating in the competitive category. The festival will also world cinema with retrospectives of famous directors, tributes to veteran film personalities, premieres of various movies and an exclusive Indian Panorama.
Woodlands, Woodlands Symphony, Inox and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce theatre will screen the films.
Nearly 130 films from 40 countries will be screened during the nine-day event. The opening film of the festival is ‘South Kitchen,` a German film.
