1000 special teachers are to be appointed in the state government schools for different subjects including tailoring and painting through competitive examination.

The state government has also decided to bring about changes in the format of the competitive examination.

The examination will be conducted for 95 marks. The balance 5 marks will be awarded by a new method. The break-up of this 5 marks is as follows: Additional qualification will get half-a-mark. Experience of having worked in the state government will get 1 mark. Experience in private school will get half-a-mark. Extra-curricular specialties such as NCC, NSS, Fine Arts, etc will get 1.5 marks.

Under this new competitive exam, 530 Physical Education teachers, 250 Arts teachers, 160 tailoring teachers, and 55 music teachers are to be appointed for a total of about 1000 teachers.

Certain changes have been carried out in the format of the question paper. All answers will be given full integer marks (unlike half-mark which is in practice till now). It is also being explored whether to give additional weightage as per the number of years of registration in the employment exchange.
