The central government is proposing to impose some new restrictions on buying grains and groceries at subsidised rates from ration shops trying to reduce the number of people buying from ration shops by 50%.

A discussion meeting on this regard by a team headed by the Food Minister, Mr. Ram Vilas Paswan, is scheduled to be conducted on 11th February in Delhi.

If the recommendations made by Santhakumar Committees are adopted by the central government, it is expected that the number of ration shop buyers will reduce by half.

It is also gathered that the price of most of the subsidised grocery items in the ration shops are set to be increased.
