The state department of Health has announced that persons with symptoms of swine-flu can have a free medical check at the King Institute, located in Guindy, Chennai.
It is worth noting that swine-flu medical checks cost as much as Rs. 3000/- for the tests in their labs by the private hospitals.
The Director for Medical Education, Dr. Geethalakshmi, informed:
There are 3 types of swine-flu. Light fever, cold, cough, sour throat, body pain, headache, vomiting, and Diarrhoea is the first type. This type doe not require any tests. But it requires treatment.
People with high fever and sour throat can also go the government hospital for treatment. The necessity for tests will be based on the severity of the fever.
Apart from the above symptoms, if there are problems is breathing or chest pain, the person must certainly go to the government hospital for checking and testing.
There is sufficient stock of the Tamiflu tablets for treating swine-flu in the government hospitals. So, there is no need for any anxiety.
People having above symptoms can go the King’s Institute in Guindy and have a free medical checking & testing. Test results will be given in 2 days.
Facilities for checks for swine-flu have made available at the Chennai Government General Hospital, and the government hospitals at Coimbatore, Trichy, and Thirunelveli.
