How to convert the reservation tickets for use by relatives?

Even if the persons who made reservations for train travel could not undertake the journey due to various reasons, they can facilitate their relatives to use the reservation tickets.
Southern Railway has informed that public should make the best use of this facility.
Trains serve the main source of travel by public in India. Lakhs of persons travel daily in the trains.
The tickets for the special trains announced by Southern Railway during the festival holidays continue to get sold out within a few minutes. Hence, the public resort to make the reservations 2 months in advance.
In case, the person who reserved so early cannot make the journey, there is a facility to transfer the ticket to be used by a relative. However, there is very little awareness about this facility!
Now, Southern Railway has emphasised that public should make the best use of this facility.
Railway officials explained on this regard that even if the persons who made the reservations cannot undertake the journey, some of the relatives whose names are included in the ration card can use the same tickets to travel. They have to submit the necessary proof to the concerned Railway authorities and get his signature at least 1 day in advance.
