LPG tanker owners belonging to Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry were on strike demanding higher transportation charges from Saturday. Government officials from the civil supplies and consumer protection department intervened in this matter. They held talks with representatives from the Southern Region Bulk LPG Transport Operators Association and the public sector oil companies.
The tanker owners association said it decided to withdraw the strike following the Tamil Nadu government`s request.
While the oil companies offered Rs 2.94 per tonne per km in the new contract for 2014-17, LPG tanker owners went on strike demanding Rs 3.06 per tonne per km.
