Very soon Komodo dragon from Indonesia will arrive at Chennai Crocodile Park. This Komodo dragon will exchanged for local crocodiles. Now permission has been sought from the Ministry of Environments. After some official paperwork, this Komodo dragon will be brought to Chennai.

Chennai Crocodile Park is situated in ECR. The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology (MCBT) is a reptile zoo and herpetology research station.  The centre is both a registered trust and a recognized zoo under the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and is India`s leading institution for herpeto faunal conservation, research and education.

Komodo dragons have thrived in the harsh climate of Indonesia`s Lesser Sunda Islands for millions of years, although amazingly, their existence was unknown to humans until about 100 years ago.

Reaching 3 meters in length and more than 136 kilograms, Komodo dragons are the heaviest lizards on Earth. They have long, flat heads with rounded snouts, scaly skin, bowed legs, and huge, muscular tails.
