This year when the sun is in its peak, Chennaites who are on the prowl can relax because an air-conditioned bus shelter has been erected in Asarkhana bus stop on Grand Southern Trunk Road, St. Thomas Mount. The shelter, to be inaugurated soon, is for commuters waiting to board buses to Guindy. 35 people can sit and close to 50 people can stand.
Toilets have also been created close to the shelter, constructed by St. Thomas Mount cum Pallavaram Cantonment Board at Rs. 1.25 crore. It is also understood that ATM will also be coming soon. Apart from this one more air-conditioned bus shelter is to erected opposite Metro Rail station.
