McAfee the security software maker has an alert to all smartphone users. Mobile phones containing mobile apps are at the verge of risk of cyber attacks globally. More importantly, those using Mobile Data providing their user name and password are at higher risk, says McAfee.

According to McAfe Labs Threats Report, February 2015, it is said that most mobile app developers fail to patch critical secure sockets layer (SSL) vulnerabilities and this stands as sturdy reason for most mobile phone users to get affected by cyber attacks.

Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) at Carnegie Mellon University released the complete list of all vulnerable mobile applications in September 2014. 25 most popular apps of this list was tested by McAfee Labs in January 2015 and found that 18 out of 25 have not patched despite public disclosure, vendor notification, etc.

It is also added that most of the vulnerable apps are photo editing applications holing over 100 million to 500 million downloads.
