Central government’s Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Jayant Sinha informed in the parliament yesterday that the the total of irretrievable bank loans had trebled in the last 3 years.
As on March 2014, the total of irretrievable loans has soared to Rs. 2,17 thousand Crores!
The central government and the Reserve Bank of India have jointly taken several initiatives towards the recovery of the irretrievable loans.
The central government had already decided to set up 6 tribunals on the retrieval of this amount.
While answering during the question hour, the Minister of State for Finance informed that there is a total of Rs. Rs. 5124.95 Crores lying unclaimed in the savings accounts in banks over the last 10 years.
