20 per cent increase in import volume of mobile phones

Mobile phones – this is the catchword for the current generation. Finding somebody without their head held down looking at a smartphone at least once in a day is a case of rarity. No wonder if the total volume of mobile phone import is increased in our country. In one year, over 22 crore and 50 lakh mobile phones were imported in India, according to reports from the union of mobile phone companies.
Comparing this count with that of last year, it is 20 per cent higher, they say. Targeting to reduce the overall import of mobile phones, government of India is encouraging manufacturing of mobile phones within the nation. In addition, they have also imposed excessive tax charges for import of few specific brands of mobile phones.
