Sholinganallur underdeveloped transport infrastructure

Sholinganallur plays a major role in the upkeep of city’s IT growth and development with large number of IT companies popping out and being well maintained. Despite such a brilliant development in the locality, transport infrastructure seems to remain idle without progressing in parallel with it. Traffic in this locality remains a chaos with frequent jams, particularly at Sholinganallur junction and Old Mahabalipuram Road. It is this junction that connects people to eight different locations including:
· Mahabalipuram
· Thiruvanmiyur
· Adyar
· East Coast Road
· OMR
· Perungudi
· Tambaram
· Madhya Kailash
The time period between 8.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. and 5 p.m and 9 p.m sees transportation of over 12000 corporate buses and 75000 cars. Such bulky population of heavy vehicles leaves motorists and pedestrians prone to accidents. A foot over-bride lying by this side is kept abandoned. This anarchy is very similar to that of Poonamalle High road that lies outside Chennai Central.
