Metro Rail fare to be announced during the last week of March

Metro Rail sources say that the rail fare will be officially announced during the last week of March. It is understood that the fares may be between Rs 10 to Rs 40 depending on the kilometer. Works connected with Metro Rail are going on in two routes. This 45 kilometer project is being done at a coat of Rs 20 Thousand Crores. As a first step, efforts are being made to start the operations between Koyambedu and Alandur. It is expected the train services will be operated during the second week of April. At this juncture, there is various distorted news about the ticket price.
An official of Chennai Metro Rail said, When the work connected with the metro rail began in 2009, a committee was formed to fix the rates of the tickets. That committee compared the rates with Delhi Metro and started fixing it. In the present situation the minimum fare will be Rs 10. The rates will be officially announced during the last week of March or first week of April. There will no season tickets or any concessions on the ticket.
