TANGEDCO officials have appealed to the state government offices to replace all tube light fittings with LED bulbs.

As the demand for power in Tamil Nadu is more than generation, EB has been taking  a number of steps including power cut, and other restrictions.

In the latest technology development LED (Light Emitting Diodes) bulbs give more light consuming less electrical energy. A 10 W LED bulb can replace an ordinary tube light and a 20 W Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL).

Compare this: 1 unit of electrical energy is taken by 40W tube light (22 hours), 20 W CFL (44 hours), and then 10 W LED Bulb (96 hours). It is quite clear that LED bulbs offer more saving.

Hence, TANGEDCO officials have appealed to the state government offices to replace all tub-lights with LED bulbs.

At the Chennai Headquarters of the Electricity department, the officials have decided to procure 710 numbers of 4’ long LED tubes with 16 W capacity

LED bulbs will be fitted in 7 regions, 37 electricity distribution circle, and 2600 section
offices.
