White metals like Osmium, Palladium, Ruthenium, and Iridium are being mixed with gold while making jewellery.
It is rather difficult to detect this.
Only if the jewellery is melted (to a temperature of 2200 Degrees Fahrenheit) , it may be possible to detect the presence of these white metals.
However, at this temperature gold will disintegrate into dust form & fly away in the wind.
As a viable alternative to check the purity of gold, a new device ‘XRS’ has come.
If a jewellery item is placed on this device, it will give a report on all other metals have been mixed at what extent within a short period.
The customers can confirm about the purity of the gold in the jewellery by using this device.
This device is now available in the market.
