Amma Theatres in 6 locations!

Chennai Corporation has decided to set up Amma theatres in 6 locations in Chennai. Each theatre will be a 4 to 5 multi-screen complex.
The Corporation will seek approval from the state government and finalise the designers.
‘Amma’ theatre was one of the features offered during the presentation of budget 2014-15.
Some sites were selected. However, there were no further activities.
Chennai Corporation has taken this project now and plans to progress.
A decision has been taken to progress further on 6 selected locations by finalising the designer/builder while submitting the proposal for state government approval.
Chennai Corporation has now started working on the next stages such as finalising the builders, making estimates, appointing a progress monitoring agency, etc.
It has planned to complete the construction and start screening movies before the next assembly elections!
“Go ahead’ for these activities is expected to be given in the Corporation meeting scheduled today (Wednesday, 27th May).

· Basin Bridge Road (Royapuram region)
· Old regional office site (Thiru Vi Ka Nagar region)
· Ramapuram Bharathi Road (Alandur region)
· Kottupuram Turnbulls Road (Teynampet region)
· South Usamn Road & Sivagnanam Street (Kodambakkam region)
Each will be a multi-storeyed building with 5 or more screens in a single floor.
