The ban on fishing gets completed tomorrow (Friday, 29th May). Hence, fishermen have become busy in preparations to resume fishing from tomorrow. Nagai district has a 182 km coast.

There are over 1500 fishing boats, 5000 fiber boats, and 2000 catamarans in the district. Experts of Rs. 1 Crore worth of fish & related products to other states and foreign countries are done every day.

As April & May months are the breeding seasons for fish, fishing was banned from 15th April till 29th May for 45 days. Hence, fishermen did not go for fishing during these 45 days. They spent their time in carrying out repairs in their boats, trawlers, and catamarans and mending their nets.

Fish aficionados were subjected to great hardships as their favorite food item of variety of fish were not available all these 45 days! They will now be relieved as the ban has come to an end.

From 12.00 midnight tomorrow, the ban is withdrawn and fishing boats can operate. Hence, fishermen got busy right from yesterday (Thursday, 27th May) for preparatory work. They were arranging ice-boxes, nets, GPS devices, cooking groceries, etc in their boats.

Hence, it is expected fish availability will increase in the coming 3 to 4 days!
