From the year 2015-2016, B Ed duration will be extended by two years. The Tamil Nadu Government has issued orders to this effect. Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University approved the order on June 19 itself. Officials said that the new curriculum would place emphasis on yoga, health education, arts and craft as well as computer training and practical teaching practices.
This would be done through a 20 week programme — four in the first year and 16 in the second year.
Those enrolling for B.Ed will have 16 papers (nine in the 1st year, seven in the second) as opposed to the six a year till now. Those registering for MEd will have 12 papers instead of six earlier.
The examinations would be practical and scientifically oriented to improve the quality of candidates, officials added.The admission would be through single-window on-line counselling. The order is likely to be issued in July
