The prices of onions and tomatoes have been increased by 25% in the retail vegetable shops in Chennai. Tomatoes were sold for Rs 20 per kilo and onions were sold for Rs 24 per kilo in the Koyambedu Wholesale Vegetable Market. At the juncture, the prices of these have gone up suddenly on Sunday. the reason for this is short supply of vegetables due to hot climate.
